Sir Jackie Stewart OBE and Damon Hill OBE raise over £7,000 for their charities during The Mindset of Champions event

Thank you to everyone who joining us last Wednesday evening for our virtual event.

Ignition Human Performance and Motorsport Tickets are proud to announce the virtual event The Mindset of Champions: An Evening with Sir Jackie Stewart OBE and Damon Hill OBE, has raised over £7,000 for the drivers’ respective charities: Race Against Dementia and the halow project.

Sir Jackie Stewart OBE and Damon Hill OBE joined Ignition co-founder Nick Butcher for the virtual event

An exclusive audience of 110 attendees joined the two Formula One World Champions live via Ignition’s Virtual Learning Platform to discuss a range of topics, including how sponsorship became a major factor in the sport, why camaraderie between drivers on the grid was so important to racing culture, and why Hill refused Stewart’s offer to race for his team in the 1990s. Stewart and Hill also discussed their important charities.

Race Against Dementia was founded by Sir Jackie Stewart following the diagnosis of his wife, Lady Helen Stewart, was diagnosed with the disease, and looks to inject a motorsport attitude into dementia research. The halow project which has Damon Hill OBE as its patron, supports young people with learning disabilities throughout their adult life with an array of programmes and social activities. Through ticket sales and donations, the event raised a total of £7,392 which will be split between the two charities.

Sir Jackie Stewart OBE said: “I’d like to thank everyone who donated and joined us for The Mindset of Champions. I very much enjoyed chatting with Damon virtually about racing, including racing with his father and knowing him since he was just a pup, and our very important charities. Since I launched Race Against Dementia, it has been driven to raise funds for dementia research, and fuel innovations with an F1 attitude. So, this was a great event to raise both awareness and funds for the cause.”

Damon Hill OBE said: “I had a wonderful evening with Sir Jackie during The Mindset of Champions event, raising funds and awareness for the halow project. Having known Sir Jackie since I was young, it was a great opportunity to tell some stories from our eras on track, and share insights we’ve both picked up along the way. I hope it was valuable to those who tuned in virtually, and that they enjoyed Sir Jackie berating me for not signing up for Stewart Grand Prix!”
